about
(written by Brian Shea/Gary Storey)
Dan- vocals/violin. Gary- guitar/bass. Ant -percussion.
I did not play on this as Gary was a much better guitarist than me; another case of the vocal mic not working so it kept cutting out as we recorded it but, due to me insisting we stick with the only one vocal take being allowed, we have this strange slightly scary take. Dan was as mad as hell by the end of it as you can tell with the last line. Probably the only line that is fully audible. One of my fave tracks on the LP...As my pathetic life unfurls.
Sounds like Daniel Johnston off his nut on special brew with a portion of chips and gravy. Proper good stuff; angry and funny. Love the lo-fi (or no-fi) aesthetic and fuck off attitude. boycalledcrow
Such a Bordellos record is this. Typically eccentric and recorded and played to their own unique specifications. But, as usual, amongst it the melodies are pretty much all a joy to behold. In a couple of numbers I'm reminded of the quaint off-kilter songs Lou Reed used to write for Mo Tucker to sing in the Velvets. Gavin Hellyer
Recorded on an iPhone, the four tracks on the new EP from Kiara NGL burst with both big feelings and gentle melodies. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 19, 2022
