about
(written by Brian Shea)
Brian – vocals/guitar. Gary - electric guitar. Ant- pitch pipe. Dan – percussion/harmony. Jade - harmony vocal
This was a strange evening for Dan he had spent the previous hour walking around a supermarket with british comedy actor Ted Robbins who was his then girlfriends uncle. Dan and Jade then turn up at the session to find us recording a psych folk song about a sexual predator who can only reach climax if his partner wears a seal mask. he and his girlfriend Jade then added their harmony vocals. Jade is the second cousin to Beatle Paul, so this is the first occasion the Beatle bloodline appears on a Bordellos release...dry your eyes with a tissue of lies.
Sounds like Daniel Johnston off his nut on special brew with a portion of chips and gravy. Proper good stuff; angry and funny. Love the lo-fi (or no-fi) aesthetic and fuck off attitude. boycalledcrow
Such a Bordellos record is this. Typically eccentric and recorded and played to their own unique specifications. But, as usual, amongst it the melodies are pretty much all a joy to behold. In a couple of numbers I'm reminded of the quaint off-kilter songs Lou Reed used to write for Mo Tucker to sing in the Velvets. Gavin Hellyer
Recorded on an iPhone, the four tracks on the new EP from Kiara NGL burst with both big feelings and gentle melodies. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 19, 2022
