about
(written by Brian Shea)
Brian - vocals/guitar .Ant - Harmonica .Dan- inaudible harmony vocals
When this song was being recorded there was a huge Summer thunderstorm and rain started to pour through the roof and down the walls of Ant’s living room due to the bad state of his brickwork .So as i was trying to get my best brokenhearted vocal performance Ant was running around the house with buckets, muttering the immortal line “Life’s too short for guttering..”. This was another no show night from Gary so he’s not on it, and Dan recorded harmony vocals but because of the only one vocal take rule the mic did not pick them up very well. If you have the hearing of a dog you may hear them...I look in the mirror and my curse has been reversed.
Sounds like Daniel Johnston off his nut on special brew with a portion of chips and gravy. Proper good stuff; angry and funny. Love the lo-fi (or no-fi) aesthetic and fuck off attitude. boycalledcrow
Such a Bordellos record is this. Typically eccentric and recorded and played to their own unique specifications. But, as usual, amongst it the melodies are pretty much all a joy to behold. In a couple of numbers I'm reminded of the quaint off-kilter songs Lou Reed used to write for Mo Tucker to sing in the Velvets. Gavin Hellyer
Recorded on an iPhone, the four tracks on the new EP from Kiara NGL burst with both big feelings and gentle melodies. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 19, 2022
